TapExpense XLS Export Service Shutdown (for Versions 2.6.1 and Older)
September 22, 2011.
We’re closing the XLS (Excel spreadsheet) export service for TapExpense versions before and including 2.6.1.
We also recommend existing users upgrade to "TapExpense 2", the new and current version sold and maintained by Lazy Studio.
When the Service Will Be Shut Down
The service will be shut down on the midnight of December 29, 2011 (Greenwich Mean Time).
After that, TapExpense versions 2.6.1 and older will no longer be able to export your expense data as Excel spreadsheets.
We’ll be sending reminders when you export XLS through the service in the next three months.
Versions Affected
TapExpense 2.6.1 and before.
If you’re using TapExpense 2 version 2.6.2 and later, you’re already using the new export service provided by Lazy Studio, so there’s nothing you need to do.
How to Check Your TapExpense Version
Tap the “Tools” tab, and scroll down to the bottom, and you will find the version number of TapExpense:

Migration Suggestions for TapExpense 2.6.1 Users
It has been almost six months since Lazy Studio acquired TapExpense. A new version, called “TapExpense 2”, has been available on the App Store since April 2011.
If you’re using TapExpense 2.6.1, we suggest existing users who still like using the export service upgrade to TapExpense 2. Lazy Studio is offering upgrade solutions to existing users, please write to tapexpense@gmail.com for details. You can also migrate your existing data to TapExpense 2 by following this migration guide.
If You’re Using An Older TapExpense (2.6, 2.5, or Older)
If you’re using older TapExpense (2.6, 2.5, or older), unfortunately there’s no way you can migrate the data to TapExpense 2 (due to old iPhone SDK limitations). If you still like to keep using the old version, you can use CSV export. CSV format is understood by most spreadsheet programs (Excel and Numbers are two examples).
If you still like to migrate the database of the old TapExpense, you will need to use a type of program called “iPhone backup extractor”, and find specifically a file called “Default.db”, and drag the database file to the new TapExpense 2 by following the migration guide. Unfortunately we can’t provide any support or suggestions on which extractor to use.
